To adapt our site PrestaShop to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the first step to take is to install the GDPR module. In the case of PrestaShop 1.6.X, we can opt for our module PrestaShop Free GDPR compliance [RGPD 2016/679], while for PrestaShop 1.7 we can install the official PrestaShop module for free.

The second step to take is to subscribe to the Iubenda service in order to generate a privacy policy and cookie policy compliant with the GDPR.

STEP 1. WE REGISTER A USER ON IUBENDA

Let's connect to the site http://iubenda.refr.cc/SJF8K76 and click on the Signup option at the top right, enter our email and a password that we will use to access the service. We will receive an email with the procedure necessary to complete the registration.

STEP 2. LET'S START THE GENERATION OF THE PRIVACY POLICY

After logging in, click on the Dashboard option at the top and then on the Start Generation option (green button). You will find Website already selected; if it is not, select it, then enter the URL of our e-commerce and click on Start Generation.

STEP 3. LET'S CREATE OUR PRIVACY POLICY

Let's start creating our privacy policy by clicking on Generate now (green button) in the Privacy and Cookie policy box that appears on our left and then again on Add a service (blue button).

STEP 4. LET'S SELECT THE ACTIVE SERVICES IN OUR E-COMMERCE

Let's start by selecting the services installed on our e-commerce by entering the service to search for in the Type here to filter field, for example: Sale of goods and services online. Then click on the + that appears to the right of the name after the Pro label. When finished, click on Save and close.

STEP 5. LET'S ENTER THE DATA OF THE WEB SERVICE HOLDER

Let's move to point 2 - website owner – and enter the owner's details; if the company has appointed a RDP/DPO, their contact information should be included in this form. Once the fields are filled out, click on Next to confirm the entry.

STEP 6. GENERATION OF THE COOKIE POLICY

Generating the Cookie Policy is very simple as it is linked to the Privacy Policy we have already generated. Click on the Generate now option in the central column Cookie Solution, in the window that appears leave everything as it is and click on Next at the bottom right.

STEP 7. LET'S RECOVER THE IUBENDA ID ASSOCIATED WITH OUR PRIVACY AND COOKIE POLICY

Scroll down the page to the item Integrate the documents, click on Use the direct link where we will find the URL https://www.iubenda.com/privacy-policy/59844XXX where the number after privacy-policy/ is the ID of the Privacy and Cookie Policy we have generated.

STEP 8. LET'S INSTALL THE ART IUBENDA GDPR PRIVACY AND COOKIE POLICY MODULE

Let's purchase the module Art Iubenda Privacy and Cookie Policy GDPR [RGPD 2016/679] and download it. From the PrestaShop panel, go to Modules and Modules & Services and click on the Upload a module option at the top right. In the pop-up, select the choose a file option and select the module installation package from the local folder where we downloaded it.

STEP 9. LET'S CONFIGURE THE IUBENDA MODULE

We enter the Privacy and Cookie Policy ID (step 5) in the Iubenda API ID field and select the position of the Widget we want from the Widget Position dropdown menu and configure the other options as shown in the image. Now click on Save to confirm the settings.

STEP 10. INTEGRATION OF THE PRIVACY POLICY TEXT INTO a CMS

From the PrestaShop panel, go to Design -> Pages and then click on Edit to edit the CMS. Click on the View Source Code icon on the left of the editor and insert the code

and click on Ok.

STEP 11. LET'S MAKE OUR E-COMMERCE GDPR COMPLIANT

The Official GDPR compliance module is free for PrestaShop 1.7, for version 1.6 we can use the free module PrestaShop Free GDPR compliance.
The installation of the module is very simple, as in step 7 let's go to Modules & Services.

STEP 12. CONFIGURATION OF THE OFFICIAL GDPR COMPLIANCE MODULE

Let's click on Configure and navigate to the Consent Box Customization option, customize the various messages (we just need to translate them) and then save. Having installed the Art Iubenda module, we will be able to include the widget as indicated in the module manual.

STEP 13. LET'S ACTIVATE THE COOKIES LAW

We can now activate the Iubenda cookies law banner. To do this, we simply need to identify the siteID from the inclusion code provided by the service. We enter it in the Iubenda Art module in the appropriate field and activate the banner by enabling the Cookie Law Banner option (see step 8).
